A new Dutch escape

Seven sails against a low grey sky.

Molen Royale Casino Hotel is a fictional destination built into a row of seven working Dutch windmills strung along a canal—great timber towers whose sails still turn in the wind, grinding grain and pumping water as they have for centuries. Warm wheat, barn red, reed green and low-sky blue run through the whole casino hotel, laid out among the turning mills.

Watch the miller set the sails to the morning wind. Walk the dyke path between the seven towers. Then step in off the water into our adults-only casino salon in the base of the great mill, warm and low beneath the turning gears. Everything in this casino hotel is powered, in spirit and sometimes in fact, by the same wind that built the country.

De Maalderij Restaurant

Stone-ground, on the spot.

Our signature restaurant is built around the mill's own flour—bread and pastry from grain stone-ground in the tower next door, thick pea soup, smoked eel, cheese from the polder farms, apple tart and stroopwafels pressed to order. The genever is Dutch and cold, the windows look out on the turning sails, and the room sits a few steps from the casino hotel lobby.
